Timed mock · scored by section

Timed EPA 608 practice exam

This EPA 608 practice exam runs against a clock, takes the sections in order, Core first and then Type I, II and III, and keeps every note closed until you submit, so your score by section shows where you'd slip under time pressure.

EPA 608 mock exam, four sections

Before you start

  • One question at a time. If one stalls you, flag it and move on: a skipped question costs less than a stuck clock.
  • The clock runs from Start and submits for you at zero.
  • Notes stay closed until you submit, so the score is honest. Then every option is explained.

Reading your section scores

Universal needs Core and all three types, and the rule's pass mark is 70% (40 CFR 82, Appendix D (e), eCFR as of October 5, 2026). A section that comes back under that line here is where you'll start, and the drill on each topic page in the EPA 608 study guide is the place to do it.

A weak section costs less on test day than it looks. With ESCO Institute, for one, a failed section is retaken on its own and passed sections stay passed (ESCO 2026 exam page, checked October 7, 2026). So a low score here calls for one section of drills, then another timed run once the untimed practice test stops surprising you.

Before you book the real one

How long is the real EPA 608 test?

EPA's rule sets no time limit; your certifying program does. SkillCat, for example, lists 2 hours for Universal and 1 hour for each type test (SkillCat FAQ, checked October 7, 2026). Check your own program before test day.

Does a good mock score mean I'll pass?

It shows which section is weakest under time pressure, and that's all it shows. The real test is drawn from EPA's bank in versions you won't have seen, so treat a section that barely clears 70% here as unfinished.

Can I take the real exam online?

Yes, with some programs. EPA's list marks the ones offering remote or online-only testing (EPA list of certification programs, checked October 7, 2026), and EPA 608 testing online walks through how a remote sitting works.
